Not necessarily, but the sequencing exists for a reason. In our experience, companies that skip phases face higher failure rates and wasted spend. When a creative agency came to us ready to commission a custom build, we reviewed their situation and redirected a £30,000 to £40,000 project towards training first. The result was a better build, delivered faster and for less, because their team understood what they were building and why. Most organisations get more from the journey when they follow the phases in order.

It is possible. Some organisations arrive with genuine existing maturity: a leadership team that is already aligned, a workforce that has been using AI tools for months, or processes that are already mapped. In those cases, entering at a later phase makes sense. That said, most organisations benefit from starting with alignment. We will be honest about where we think you should begin, but the decision is yours.

Phases 1 and 2 can follow in quick succession. Running a Strategy and Alignment session on Monday and a Build Your Own AI Assistant workshop on Tuesday is perfectly viable. Phases 3 to 5 depend on scope: the number of workflows being mapped, the complexity of the builds, and your organisation's readiness to adopt. There is no single timeline that fits everyone, and we would rather be honest about that than offer a number that does not hold.
